WHO ARE WE?
We are a family of five and we live south of Bergen on the westcoast of Norway. My husband and eldest daughter had asked for a dog quite some time, but I had always said no. This time i felt I was going down, so I started to look for a dog I could manage and like.
WHY FRENCH BULLDOG?
This lead me to Canis, a norwegian website about dogs (sorry - it´s only in norwegian). There I found a page with different racial characteristics that helped me to find a dog that could be perfect for us - the French Bulldog. This was a breed we didn´t know anything about, so we had to go to the library and search the Internet to find the information we needed. What I found was that the frenchie are a childrensfriendly dog, therefor a good familydog, the clown of the house and had a huge self-confidence. Combinded with a funny look - we were sold! The hunt for a breeder started both in Norway and in Europe.
HOW DID WE GET MILLA?
Through Kari Bjørnsen in Babybull we were sent to a breeder 20 minutes drive from our home, kennel Bullipop and had the pleasure of meeting the Caqueiros. We were so lucky that we could follow their bitch Bibbis state of being with young. We also spent some time with the puppies when they were born. Even tough we didn´t buy one of their puppies, it still was a true joy to follow their development and watch them grow up. At the same time it was the beginning of a friendship with Aina and Paulo Caqueiro, which we really appreciate.
At the same time we were looking outside of Norway for a breeder. The environment in Norway are small and we knew it was in need of new blood to the breed. We searched the Internet for an earnest and dedicated breeder and we found kennel de l´Amabilité. We really felt lucky when we came in contact with Emmy and Jacques Kloosterhof in Holland. Their pure-bred dogs impressed us and we gave them a call. Through many conversations they gave us confidence by showing excellent success through many years of breeding. It was important for us that they emphasized health, beauty and breed standards. After a while they trusted us with a beautiful red fawn bitch, called Amely. We are very grateful to Emmy and Jacques.
SO - WHAT´S NEXT?
Milla, as we call her, grows and flourish. She can be quite naughty some times - maybe she think she is on of the kids. My 3 and 5 year old have a new friend to play with who also likes Duplo and teddybears. Even tough she is better at chewing than constructing. Our eldest daughter has found a bestfriend who keeps secrets.
We have started to show her and consider the puppyshows as good training for later. We think she is amasing and if we get good results from the shows - maybe we let her have puppies of her own.
